Abby Explains It All

The other day, we were shopping at Target, and I was lingering over a pretty flowering plant. She saw what I was doing, and started telling me how it was.

"You know you'll just kill it," she said.

I protested. "It looks very sturdy!"

She wasn't buying that. "Until you get it home!"

I didn't get the plant. Really, it's probably better that way.

Later that weekend, we had run out of cat food for the cats. The cats were not particularly pleased about this development, so we were at the store again, looking at our cat food options.

They were out of the big bag of the usual stuff, so we had to figure out what to do. There seemed to be a million different slightly different varieties, and some of them had hairball stuff, and some had weight loss stuff. I wondered, aloud, about getting them some of that.

This resulted in a discussion about how to gradually get them to accept the weight loss cat food. We talked about it for a while, and then I started to feel bad about putting the poor kitties on a diet, so I said, "Do you really think they need to lose weight?"

She just looked at me.

I bought the diet cat food.
